They say the second week of June is one of the slowest of the summer, but you honestly could not tell when looking out at the scenes in the main room at Pacha on Wednesday.
Voodoo Nights was back in full swing for week 2 of our season. Having started off early with Carl Kennedy spinning at Café Mambo after sundown to promote the night, Andy Baxter opened at Pacha with the sexy soulful house music that only he knows how to play. Then Rob Marmot took the reins over and played a great set, followed by Juan Kidd. The two of them have been in the studio together and we will be able to buy the product of their labour in the form of single ‘Summer Breeze’ on Subliminal Records early next month.
Vocalist Penny Mac sang the track live during Juan’s set, which went down really well with the Pacha faithful and set the energy up lovely for Erick. He had arrived earlier than usual to mingle with the crowd and hang out with some of the locals that always show support and love for Subliminal.
By the time he took to the decks he was really on fire and took it old school from early on. The DJ booth was packed with the likes of Richard Grey, Juan Kidd, Rob Marmot, Mark Netto and a scattering of beautiful women. Erick shaking hands with clubbers, laughing and having a great night, honestly, this is what a Subliminal night is all about.
The crowd lapped up the old skool set and plenty of people said what they love about Erick is that you never know what your going to get, which makes his night fresh and innovative after many successful years in Ibiza. Our thanks go out to the whole staff at Pacha as without them there would be no party. See you next week, same time, same place, but otherwise expect the unexpected.
